On Climate Action: A recap of yesterday’s discussion

CNN Unbiased News Reporting Agency was saddened to witness the brief discussion on Climate Action delivered by the member states. In the spirit of collective action, we had hoped to see countries agree on a set shared commitments with regard to the pressing issue of climate.

Nevertheless, we asked representatives to elaborate on solutions and practices that will alter the course of things.

When asked on the matter, Italy shared on various initiatives that will encourage sustainability through incentivizing cycling, green transport, and eco-friendly recovery projects.

Moving on to larger-scale initiatives, the delegate of France invited countries to join the One Planet Summit, an initiative of Emmanuel Macron, President of France, Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, and Jim Kim, President of the World Bank Group, with the goal to accelerate the global transition to a more virtuous economy and to place climate and nature at the core of global recovery. It builds upon the objectives of Paris Agreement, trying to accelerate the path towards the objectives.

Traveling East, the delegate of the Peoples  Republic of China pointed out:

“All parties to pool political will, strengthen cooperation, accelerate global actions so as to achieve the goal of keeping the global average temperature to well below 2 degrees C above preindustrial levels.”

On a final note, South Korea listed the following politics on climate action:

-Implementing and moving on the so called “low-carbon” economy;

-Following up on treaties signed by countries, on lowering the temperature;

-Invite all countries to be part of P4G Committee.

With all these options on the table, what will countries include in the Political Declaration?
